Qi Men Dun Jia — the Mysterious Gates Escaping Technique — is one of the Three Cosmic Arts (三式) of imperial China, once reserved for the emperor's war council. It models any moment as a nine-palace board upon which heaven (stars), earth (stems), man (doors) and spirit (deities) are simultaneously arrayed. To read the plate is to see the energetic terrain of the hour — where the hidden general stands, which gate is open, and where the noble qi has concealed itself.
